Description

The Sensory Coordinator supports Abbott House staff and the girls in our care by developing and implementing individualized sensory plans. This role provides sensory-based programming, conducts observations on the units, and works alongside staff to integrate sensory strategies into daily routines to support regulation and well-being.

Principal Accountabilities: 

• Act as the primary trainer for all new employees with respect to sensory programming and maintain records of all training provided.
• Develops, coordinates and instructs training workshops as requested.
• Provide “on the job” training and supervision employees in sensory programming.
• Provide sensory programming for youth.
• Develop a tracking system to demonstrate the effectiveness of sensory programming.
• Work with the clinical and residential team to implement sensory programming on the units.
• Develop pre and post testing to demonstrate program outcomes.
• Performs any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis.

Requirements

• Two years of treatment program experience; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services preferred.
• Familiarity with residential treatment programs.
• Ability to convey best practice methods to employees who work directly with children.
• Ability to communicate in writing and verbally in a professional manner.
• Ability to confer and relate constructively with a range of individuals.
• Conscientious and has the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Skill and knowledge in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
